When I originated High Desert Raven Writing, the name wasn’t just a reflection of my physical location, it reflected a philosophy. While I’ve recently moved to the Midwest, I have no plans to change the name. Here’s why.
The Spirit of the Raven Is Universal
The raven has long been a symbol of transformation, wisdom, and storytelling across cultures. In my work with Guided Autobiography, these themes are central—helping people unearth their stories, reflect on their experiences, connect with their past, and transform their understanding of themselves. That mission hasn’t changed, no matter where I call home.
High Desert: A Landscape of Resilience
I may no longer be living in the high desert, but its influence stays in my approach to storytelling. The desert teaches patience, resilience, and the ability to find beauty in unexpected places—qualities that are essential when revisiting our personal histories. High Desert Raven Writing was never about geography; it was about mindset.
Writing Transcends Place
Guided Autobiography isn’t tied to a specific region, it’s a practice that works anywhere. My workshops and courses welcome participants from all over, and the lessons learned through storytelling are universal. Whether in the Southwest, the Midwest, or beyond, the heart of this work is still the same.
Honoring Where It All Began
High Desert Raven Writing was born in Arizona, and that history is important to me. Changing the name would feel like erasing part of my own story, and if there’s one thing, I encourage others to do, it’s to honor their past while embracing their present.
So, while my surroundings may have changed, my mission is still the same. High Desert Raven Writing continues to be a place where stories take flight—no matter where I am.
“Feather by feather, word by word—build the wings of your legacy.”
